Maria began her career in New Jersey public schools in 2009 as a French teacher, then moved into teaching English as a Second Language. She received her M.Ed in Teaching ESL from The College of New Jersey in 2012 and continued teaching language learners until 2020 when she became the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Somerdale School district in Camden County, New Jersey. During her time as a district leader, Maria implemented the Bookworms Reading and Writing Curriculum for grades K-8 and contracted with the SSC to provide literacy coaching and training for the district’s teachers. She is thrilled to work for the SSC, where she looks forward to providing high-quality instructional coaching to teachers across the country.
