Bio
Dr. Alison Travers serves as Assistant Director of the Delaware Academy for School Leadership (DASL) department in the University of Delaware’s School Success Center. For more than a decade, she has led statewide leadership development efforts in partnership with the Delaware Department of Education and school districts across the state. Alison leads a dedicated team of leadership specialists and coaches who partner with education leaders through leadership coaching and job-embedded professional learning. She also serves as Principal Investigator for multiple professional learning programs and networks, overseeing program planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts in collaboration with the DASL team to ultimately strengthen leadership practice across Delaware schools.
Alison also leads the University of Delaware’s Principal Preparation Program, where aspiring leaders are recruited and supported through clinically rich, evidence-based learning grounded in adult learning theory, action research, and continuous improvement, which ultimately leads to principal certification in Delaware. She is passionate about cultivating reflective, resilient leaders who can build strong cultures and drive meaningful change to impact teacher practices, student outcomes, and community impact. A frequent presenter at state and national conferences, Dr. Travers has facilitated DASL partnerships with organizations such as the Wallace Foundation, NASSP, and AASA to advance leadership development and share promising practices that support high-quality teaching and learning.
Alison completed her doctoral studies in K-12 Educational Leadership and her research focused on supporting novice school leaders in developing emotional intelligence to foster effective leadership. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration, concentrating on education policy and organizational leadership.
