Bio

Michele Savage joins the UD School Success Center’s Delaware Academy for School Leadership (DASL) department after retiring from her work as a public educator with the State of Delaware for a little over 28 years. Michele started her career in education as a 6th grade teacher in both Christina and Brandywine School Districts.  In 2005 she decided to utilize her Masters in Administration for a Small Learning Community Coordinator position at Newark High School, which soon turned into a job as an Assistant Principal at Newark. She remained an Assistant Principal at NHS for over 8 years. At the beginning of 2014 she was asked to serve as Principal of Shue Medill Middle School.  She has remained at Shue for the last 9 years until she finally decided to expand her impact on education by  joining DASL.

Michele has a passion for Improvement Science, Trauma informed education, Equity and Inclusion. She joined the Trauma Matters Delaware Board in 2021.  She has presented at international conferences for PBS, Improvement Science, Special Education and Leadership. During her time as Principal of Shue-Medill Middle School they earned a PBS Phase 4 recognition 4 years in a row, A DE Superstars in Education Award, A Compassionate Champion  Award and received recognition as a Trauma Informed Distinguished School from Dr. Bryan Pearlman.

Outside of work Michele enjoys running, yoga, cooking, music and taking hikes in the beautiful White Clay Creek State Park!
