Most recently, she served in the Red Clay Consolidated School District as the Director of Elementary School Operations for six years and the Manager of School Turnaround for three years.
As the Director of Elementary School Operations, she supervised fifteen elementary school principals with a focus on instructional leadership and leadership development. Under her leadership, the district shifted from traditional grading practices in grades k-3 to a standards based approach. She was instrumental in creating the curriculum for the Red Clay Aspiring Leader Academy and was co-facilitator of the program; critical work in developing the district’s administrative pipeline. As the Manager of School Turnaround, Dr. Grundy served and supported schools identified as “under improvement”. She fostered the conditions and increased the capacity for school turnaround by coaching school leaders, securing resources and monitoring progress toward school goals. In this role, she led the grade level reconfiguration of two schools and worked closely with stakeholders to develop impactful school plans.
Prior to Red Clay, she served as a middle school teacher, a high school assistant principal, and a middle school principal, all in the Christina School District. As a principal, she shaped a culture and created structures anchored in Distributed Leadership, leading her school to meet Annual Yearly Progress.
Dr. Grundy has presented at local and national conferences on the topics of school culture and leadership.
Dr. Grundy received her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and her masters and doctorate degrees from Wilmington University.
Outside of work, Dr. Grundy serves on the University of Delaware Alumni Executive Board. Her favorite form of self-care is daily exercise and listening to books for both professional growth and enjoyment. She and her husband Steve enjoy hiking and skiing.
