Aleta Thompson is an instructional specialist with a focus on secondary literacy.  She worked as a high school ELA, theatre, and journalism teacher for 28 years, and as a district curriculum and instructional specialist for 12 years. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees in English from the University of Delaware and additional graduate courses in Education, Literacy, and Supervision.   As a curriculum and instructional specialist, Aleta has developed and presented teacher workshops in Differentiation, Lesson Planning, Writing, Reading Strategies, Literacy across the Curriculum, Student Engagement, the CCSS, and other literacy-related projects.  She has worked at the state level with the Common Core State Standards in ELA, helping to develop learning progressions, writing rubrics, and modules for the roll-out of the CCSS.
